Study Resources on Campus

CARE tutoring

  • CARE stands for Center for Academic Resources in Engineering and it is drop-in tutoring for the most common 100-200 level engineering classes (such as CALC 220, 230, 240, CHEM 102, CS 125, etc.)

  • It's located on the fourth floor of Grainger library but also has an online option for anybody who prefers that.

  • In-person hours are 12-10pm Sunday-Thursday and 12-6pm Friday-Saturday

  • For in-person tutoring, you go to the 4th floor of Grainger, scan a QR code to join the queue, choose the class you need help with, and a tutor comes to you to help with whatever you may need

  • Online hours are 6pm-8pm and 10pm-12am (Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday), 6pm-8pm (Monday & Thursday), and 2pm-4pm (Friday-Saturday)

  • You can also book an appointment in advance with CARE for a private study sessions

  • Not every engineering class is available for private study sessions, but they have many of the most common first and second year engineering classes

  • Note: each UIUC student only gets two private study sessions per semester and if you are interested please try and book relatively far in advance because they do fill up

  • CARE exam sessions

  • CARE also provides exam review sessions during the week leading up to an exam for many 100-200 level engineering classes

    • You will be able to find dates for these review sessions on your Grainger Student Portal

  • Once you get within a week or two of your exam date, you can go to "events" at the top of your Grainger Student Portal and then search for "review sessions" to find all of the available review sessions and the date, time, and place of each of them.

  • NOTE: Although CARE resources focus on common first and second year engineering classes, anyone can use these resources regardless of major
